Redline non-M/C 20w50
Okay, so we've established that Redline V-Twin Primary Lube is relabeled MTL. We've also established that RL V-Twin Tranny Lube is relabeled Shookproof Heavy. Now, the final piece of the RL puzzle before I try it out is...the regular non-M/C 20w50 is the same as the M/C 20w50 but with the friction modifiers which is what I want for my crankcase since it doesn't share a sump with the tranny. Am I right?

I was just lookin at the bitog site, and it looks like Redline oils have alot more moly in them then just about any other oil. It doesn't list the 20/50 wt oil tho. I wonder why they feel any current motors made nowadays would need levels of moly in the 650 ppm range? Maybe its a race oil requirement, but none of the major mc oil makers use as much as Redline.,,

Redline has always been famous for high moly content and is one of the only Group V synthetic oils on the market. They use moly as their primary anti-wear additive and their oils are designed and formulated for high performance use. The regular 20w50 will work fine in your HD engine. I use the MTL in my primary.

I spoke to a tech at Redline today. He wouldn't go into details, but said the friction modifiers were not the only difference between the motor oil and the motorcycle oil. He said they recommend the M/C oil for Harleys, but the motor oil would still be a good choice.
