Default How often do you really need to grease your neck bearings?

My neck bearings were last greased 17k miles ago. I'm not having any issues with the front end, Seeing that the front end only turns a few inches maybe a foot per ride, is it really necessary to grease them every 10k miles? your cars bearings can go forever without having to grease them, And they turn faster and carry more weight.,,

You still need to inspect them to see if there are any defects in the chrome plating, as well as repacking them to flush out any contamination....

Good rule of thumb is at 20k, open up the steering stem, inspect them and repack as necessary...

I put a few squirts in about once a year in the bike with a grease fitting. My other bike is 32 years old, doesn't have a grease fitting, and has never been disassembled for re-packing.
