Default Oil not draining

I am trying to change my oil in 2004 Road King. When I removed the oil fill cap with the dip stick, there was a beige colored sludge at the top, about a shot glass full. I removed both the small oil plug in the front and larger one in the rear, but the oil is not draining out of the main tank completely. Got about 1/2 quart out of the front and less than that from the rear drain. The oil that drained from the front was dark, the oil that drained from the back appears a bit lighter. When I put the dipstick in, it still shows the tank full. WHy won't it drain?

Is the front one the transmission oil? Has a small drain plug that uses an allen wrench to open?

Sounds like you messed up. We can fix it. The small plug didn't have an O-ring I bet. That is a casting plug and shouldn't be removed. Be very careful putting it back. Do not over tighten as it is a tapered thread and puts pressure on the cases. The other drain you opened is probably the Tranny. Check that level before you go far now. Your oil plug should have internal hex wrench and external wrench. Look around a bit it is there.

Sounds like you need to get a service manual before you fubar your bike.
