Oil doesn't break down the additives do.

I change twice a year; Late spring I switch to straight 60, in mid fall I change to 20/50, Amsoil. The 60 weight in the tranny and chain once a year going into summer. I live and ride daily in PHX it needs that heavy weight. Before the oil police dive in, the manual says 60 is needed. Runs quite.

 

 

Wow!, looks like nothing has changed in 8 years. except maybe the oil itself.

 

Every 3000 miles or so, give or take 500.

​​​​​​BTW, owner's manual suggests more frequient then the 5000 miles recommended if under severe use which it defines so I agree with your shop.

 

Every 5000 miles for the 20-50w.
Every second oil change of the 20-50w for the primary and transmission.
12 years and never had an oil related issue...
knocking on wood cuase sure as s*** i just jinxed myself,lol.

6000mi give or take. New filter every time. Last HD engine went 130,000 then started to use oil.

This twinkie better go the same (hoping anyway!)

 

3k engine, 6k primary, trans as needed

 

I do all three once per year with Synthetic oil weather it needs it or not or 5000 miles depending on the year.. I only covered 7000 miles over the last two years, new baby slowed down my riding. I should be back to 10k this year.

 

I will be going to full syn should i drain the oil cooler to? Normaly i change the oil trans and primary at 3000 mile give or take a few miles no problems yet! fingers crossed.
