It's not the oil going bad, it's the acids and other crud that's in the oil effecting the inside of your engine surfaces just sitting there for months. I ride all winter and usually change to 10-30 V-Twin syn oil in November. Then back to 20-50 in the early spring. A Harley engine doesn't like to start in 30* temps with 20-50 oil.

I just got back from the National HOG rally in Canada (2540 miles) - I sat in traffic for almost 2 hours at the border - needless to say I kept turning the engine off, but it still reached 300+. I changed the oil as soon as I got back - just for my own piece of mind. The heat also affected my clutch - it wouldn't disengage when it got real hot. Tech in Canada gave me a tip on how to temporarily fix that if I'm out in the middle of nowhere. It worked all the way home.

Look at it his way, if you change it before storage while it's hot, you won't have to worry about changing it in the spring when that first real nice day comes along.

Amsoil and now Mobil1 both have 1 year/25K mile oil. I still won't go that long.

I just did the Mobil 1 V-Twin "in all 3 holes" scenario on my 2013 Wide Glide 103. I think it might shift slightly smoother, but overall no major differences. Finding neutral seems to be a little better now too, but it may be in my head. Absolutely no adverse reactions as of yet. Full synthetic gives me piece of mind and DIY is pretty cheap when buying it from Walmart. Also went with the K&N Synthetic filter for the slick little hex nut attachment that's welded to the end for easy on/off. That will help for next time!

I'll have to do a write in since mine isn't listed in your poll. Guess that means my engine is toast. p
Valvoline in both holes. VR1 20W50 in the crankcase, VR1 sae 50 in the primary.

Rapidly squeeze and release the lever over and over a few times until you feel resistance. It doesn't last forever. I had to do it every time I came to a stop - like at a toll booth or stop sign etc. on the way home, PITA but I got home OK.
When I told that to my dealer's service manager, he said he also tells riders about that.

The difference is $15.83

Anyone considering spending 25 bucks for a quart of oil is too wrapped up in the motor oil thing.

It`s oil, man, just oil.

Ever know anyone who had an engine wear out prematurely or suffer damage because the oil failed to do its job?
