Which Red Line 20w-50 is that? The Red Line Motor Cycle VTwin oil has 2500 ppm of zinc, my last UOA at 5000 miles with this oil showed 2046 ppm of zinc.

Default lucas oil sample

This oil has 4546 miles on it.Bike has approximately 17500 miles total. This oil also has 4oz of the motorcycle oil stabilizer in it.
Physica data as follows.
viscosity@100c 17.2
everything else is zero.
Metal consintrations ppm
silicon 15ppm
iron 16ppm
chromium 1ppm
Aluminum 8 ppm
copper 14 ppm
Everything else was zero.

Additive pack ppm
moly 47 ppm
magnesium 57 ppm
sodium 13 ppm
boron 7 ppm
calcium 2015
zinc 1151 ppm
phosphorus 988 ppm
Potassium 3 ppm
The schaeffers oil came out a tab better but over all the lucas did very well.I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again.

I'm not a scientist, nor am I even a high school grad.
Started riding in my early twenties back in 06.
Raced bikes competitively before FI or synthetic oils were around. Back then, we stuck to the 3k mi rule of thumb.
Things are better now that science has progressed.
Gotta love it! But as I said earlier... I ain't no scholar. So the above stats don't mean much.
Can anyone here ( SEUSS ? please break it all down in layman terms for us/ me?
Love my AMSoil

because of where we live , (in the deep south, gulf coast) and the heat here in summer, i add a qt. of the Lucas Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer (non syn) to the motor oil and haft and haft (11oz Lucas Heavy Duty Oil Stabilizer to 11oz Valvoline 85-140 gear oil) to transmission . Run ATF in primary due to Bandit clutch being used .
Good stuff , !!! regular oil and syn 3 is just too thin for this climate !!!
Hi Mate
when you say you use an oil stabiliser, is that like an oil additive? We get a lot of heat here too (I'm in Greece) and i've just put this stuff in my mineral oil
ww.everglideoil.com/everglide-conventional
(2001 twin cam fatty) just wondered if the stuff you used was like it and the results youve had
Cheers

This was a while ago when I posted this, I won't use it again.

When I pulled in to get gas one night and the oil was boiling and steaming, that was it for me. I have never had that happen on any other oil I have ever used. I won't use Lucas again.

Now that is funny...

Mr self proclaimed ivy league internet scientist writes a long winded praise of a certain oil, based on a few hundred miles of use.

Insults members who are not **** about oil like him.

Then comes back three years later, tells us the original oil is no good, based on some wacky idea that the oil is boiling and steaming...

Thanks for the entertainment...

On avg, syntheic oil will have to reach temps well above the 500*+ range before they begin to boil.
Petroleum motor oils are more prone to boil or vaporize within the normal operating temperature of the engine. This is commonly referred to as breakdown. Once the oil begins to breakdown, it usually results in oxidation, creating hardened oil deposits -more commonly know as sludge- in your engines components. Synthetics by contrast, are able to withstand greater heat temperatures, resulting in greater protection against breakdown.
so yeah. Oils(all oils) boil and vaporize.
