Default Dropped the Harley in the HR tunnel

I dropped my Harley going into the Hampton Roads tunnel (Virginia) doing 55 mph. No jacket or gloves either (I know, DUMB). I slid, rolled and hit the tunnel's wall for 100 yards. The bike is pretty much toast. I've a **** load of road rash but no broken bones or internal injuries. My helmet took a real beating. I'll never ride again without a helmet...

Thanks guys, all the doctors couldn't believe how well I fared. That being said, I did the ancestry.com thing and traced my ancestry back past the year 1000. It said my original ancestors were Viking which were known for large bones and a robust build. That and the Lord's arms around me is probably why I'm still here today.

Glad you are somewhat intact. Wow! That's a bit more than "dropping" the bike.

I was riding on I-64 (Hampton, Virginia) going southbound. Traffic and I were moving at 55 and the highway wasn't congested at all. It was sunny outside so I had my dark sunglasses on. I entered the tunnel in the left of two lanes. It was a much darker inside the tunnel. It took several seconds for my eyes to adjust only to find traffic was nearly stopped a short distance inside the tunnel. I hit the brakes and the front tire/wheel locked up. I think there was some oil, grease or antifreeze on the road which brought it about. There's a lot of road crown in the tunnel which contributed to the front tire/wheel to slide out from underneath the bike. The bike slid towards the tunnel's left side wall. The bike and I went down and the rest is history.

heading into tunnels I ALWAYS bring sunglasses down over nose so I can look over them......whether in car or bike......gets dark in there sometimes!!
