Moving to CA; Need to Know if My Bike Will Pass Inspection
#21
It depends where you move to in CA... we went against the migration trend and moved South to the Central Coast of CA from Idaho (which is also a great state), and yes, you get taxed and regulated up the ***, but part of the trade off is you will be able to ride your motorcycle or do any outdoor recreation you want... nearly any weekend of the year, with very few gray days and no shoveling snow, so make the most of it.

Every bad thing you've heard about California...it's true. However, we do have some of the best weather west of Massachusetts...East also....riding up and down PCH (don't worry, you'll figure out all these names and such...) is 'wind therapy'....with the Pacific Ocean breezes in your face....and you can ride almost 12 months out of the year, at least I ride 12 months. There are shops that will mod your bike any way you want, you as a resident, can't buy the stuff because no one will ship it to the state. There's no smog, no inspection...except some communities like Huntington Beach will ticket you for loud pipes. What are loud pipes? A pipe that MoCo didn't install that they think is too loud. One thing you will absolutely love about California is "lane-splitting".....most people are very nice about it...I just wish some of the bikers were just as nice. Lane-splitting at 85 when traffic is 45 is a bit crazy if you ask me....ask me how I know. Get ready for sticker shock....your bike's registration will be upwards of $250...depending where you reside. Mine was $245 last year. Above all else, enjoy your stay, temporary as it may be, because sooner or later, they will run you out of the state with either the exorbitant cost of living, taxes, or just all the &^#%$^@ regulations they keep passing.....and forget bringing your guns....

Not to be a negative person but why in the h e ! ! do you want to move to California? Most are moving OUT as it is also on our minds.Don't let that old Beverly hillbillies " Theme " song fool you. If you are Rich Enough when you enter Cali then you will in short time be one of the empty pocket people that are moving out.
