Extended warranty or trade for 2023?

Not sure what to do... Love my '21 PAS, have had no issues other than battery dying once on a trip (have a portable charger and plug now) but warranty is about to expire in June. No matter what, I'll keep on riding a PAS, but thinking about trading for a 2023. Like the idea of a quick shifter, and I'm sure it's a little better all around, besides the known small upgrades.

Or I could just get the extended warranty, and keep on going for a while longer... Did spend the time upgrading a lot of it, but then it is a Harley :) I love my orange tank too, not much out there in new colors that's interesting...

Decisions, decisions...

Never been a fan of extended warranties. If I’m going to spend extra dough, I want it to be on a new bike, car, whatever.

I also have a cream sickle 2021 and have decided to go with the extended warranty, (not Harleys), as they average around $1500 or so and provide reasonable protection. There haven't been significant enough changes to this model to justify an upgrade to a new one for me. Good luck with your decision.

Extended warranties are for the math impaired, or those that could not pay for an unexpected repair. ESP companies have finance experts determining cost vs. risk, and are much better at it than buyers of the plans. It’s statistics. Many more people lose money than those that come out ahead…or they wouldn’t be in business.

While I agree with most of the above, on a new model I'd opt for the extended warranty on the Pan Am. I actually caved and traded mine in but secretly wish I had would have kept it. I never had anything totally sideline me but I had enough small issues that it just snowballed, I don't want to be left without a chair when the music stops...

I will tell you this though, you'll get jack on a trade. The Pan Am's, especially the 21's, get really low trade in values. Dealers, at least the ones I went to locally, didn't want mine. I was offered $14K, $13.5 from the local HD and Indian dealers (not the same owners). I ended up going to Houston and got 18K but paid MSRP on the RKS. Mine was a loaded Special with all the extras, it was the dealers on floor demo so they added every little piece even the tactical heated grips ;). This was back in November of last year.

I can't tell you if the quick shifter, different color etc are worth the added cost, that's on you. If it were me, I'd go with the extended warranty and ride some more.

It all depends on the cost of the extended warranty. Here in the UK, my dealer has quoted me £250 a year ($270 US) which seems pretty reasonable.

Also, it depends on how willing your dealer is to work with you on the price to trade to a '23.

Personally, I am going to go with the extended warranty for at least one more year. I might also have a talk with them just to find out what the cost of trading for a '23 would be, but I don't think I will like the numbers.

Well, I'm going to look at a 2023 model on Friday. Since the only colors are yellow, gray or black, I'm not sure though. That yellow better look great in person, because pictures don't make it look good...

I've regretted selling every bike I've had. Unfortunately, I'm afflicted with 'new to me bike syndrome'. You should keep it, but you can't. Once your eye starts to wander, there is no cure except spending $.

Normally I'd say I'm the same way, however this time I'm keeping the PAS, one way or the other!
