Parts diagrams for 1948 FL

I am reassembling a 1948 FL that has been in boxes for 25 years. Having difficulty with assembly of sheet metal especially. Motor and tranny are finished. Need help locating diagrams with fasteners and spaces etc. to reassemble correctly. Diagrams are not in original service or parts manual. Thanks

Bruce palmer 111 book its a 2 volume set - its the only real restoration book worth owning

the original factory service and parts manuals are also a great info fact based publications

If you intend to do a close-to-correct restoration, you definitely need Palmers 2nd ed.

The Spare Parts manual for HD 61,74,80,45 Big Twins and 45 Solo Models covers 1941-1954 bikes and will give you the correct configuration of nuts, bolts, spacers and washers but does not provice the correct finish (zinc, cad, parkerized, painted). That is why you need Palmers book.

Also Colony has some nice nuts, bolts and washers (also kits) that will work nicely, but you need to know the correct finish.

A factory parts book will definitely answer 95% of your questions for assembly order. And of course, Palmer's book is invaluable resource to get her right.

How about some pics of the boxes!?!?!?
