I'm trying to install a remote oil filter on a '54 FLE, but I can't find the right support bracket. The first one was what I've seen as the more common one, but it wouldn't get past the place where the pan head attaches to the cylinder, and the vent oil line. It's tight, but it should fit.
What am I missing? What I've seen has it coming through just under the oil line and above the exhaust, like this.
Picture of area attached. Return oil line removed due to trying to get this installed.
Sorry for the size. Couldn't figure out how to make it smaller.
Not sure at all. It's an aftermarket rigid frame. It seems the bracket needs to be adjusted to get below the top of the cylinder.
I've only seen two different brackets, one for rigid and one for swing arm (duo glide).
Still trying different brackets.
This looks like the one I need. Notice how it extends down from the mounting hole to come out underneath the pan head/cylinder connection. The first one I got came out at the connection, i.e. it had a shorter upper portion. Like its upper section needed to be longer.
Still looking for the right bracket. Got a new one today and same thing. The configuration looks OK, but the top portion (the straight portion at the top that fits in the mounting hole on the frame) needs to be about 3-4-7/8" longer than it is. This was a V-twin bracket with a slight bend in the upper portion.
Couple of pictures to show the problem.
I'm not the smartest mechanic in the world, but something is wrong!!!
Any suggestions/recommendations would be appreciated.
Looking at how the motor fits in the frame, since it's an aftermarket frame, it's different than with an OEM frame. Look how close the pan is to the frame on the first picture, and how far below the frame it is on the picture of my bike. So, it looks like I need a bracket that can be used on this frame.
Anyone know where I can get a bracket that is made for this frame or maybe someplace to get a custom bracket?
