Default Where to buy Pan"heads"?????

I'm doing a total restoration on a '62 panhead and now that I'm ready to buy the heads I find out The company, STD, that makes the heads has gone out of business!!!

Does anyone have a new set of panheads for sale or know of anywhere that does have the heads I so desperately need?

Have you called V-Twin or J&P to see if they have any in stock. Lacking that your best bet is ebay and expect to pay top dollar for shop ready heads (see them there all the time) or bid on a set of outside oilers for your year and expect to have them worked on.

Places like HeadHog and Creekside repair old heads as does Carls Cycles. It is not cheap however but well worth the money is you are going for a full on restoration job

Thanks panz4ever. V-Twin doesn't have any and J&P is doing a dance around all their part #s trying to secure a payment for "backordered" parts.

I haven't checked Ebay but now that you've suggested it I am going to peruse the site and see what's out there.

I've got four old sets that all are cracked in the usual place and two sets that have been weld repaired but really aren't worth trying to use for several reasons.

I'll give an update when I find something and thanks again.

I had Don at HeadHog re do the heads for my 49EL - cracks, broken fins, intakes - and I will say they came back better than new. Used Tom Shaw at Creekside for the 49EL cases and cylinders and his work was as equally good.

Right now I have a set of L48/E49 heads that are at Carls Cycle Supply getting repairs to the intake manifold area. These are going to be used on a 56 pile-o-parts project. They have a web site as well and like the others specialize in older iron.

Shop ready heads on ebay start at around 12-13. Think if you are doing a serious nuts-n-bolts restoration or anything close to it, your money would be well spent taking a set you already have and sending them out for fixing.

Creekside and Carls have a 2-3 month turnaround time; HeadHog is 2x that. Just gives you more time to make other things right on the bike. Good luck, and if you get the chance post up some pics

Call Clete at Old Dude over in Lilburn, GA. He is a good dude. They are sometimes real busy and you may have to drop him an email.
