I have a 1965 with an open primary. When I pull in the clutch, Tt squeals. Does not squeal when clutch is not pulled in and riding. Works fine. Any idea what this is and how to fix. I woudl appreciate any suggestions.
As in gear whine?....something going on in tranny?
As in belt whine?...time to inspect for cracks maybe? belt aligned to both pulleys?
As in clutch assembly?...when's the last time you had the clutch assembly apart and thrown a little grease on the rollers, checked out the condition of the steel plates, wiped them clean, inspected and cleaned friction discs?
If it is quiet in neutral and quiet when engaged and the squeal comes when you have the leverl pulled in, it sounds like it might be the throwout bearing.
