I have a Denim Black 2007 Night Train. I want to install Flush Mount Fuel Cap and Gauge kit from HD but it is only only offered in chrome or gloss black. Can I buy matte black clear coat in a can and re-apply clear coat paint to them or use a few coats of John Deer flat black? I want the parts to "disappear" into the denim paint.

Any and all suggestions or experience is appreciated.
