Default Paint cracking

Has anyone had their paint start cracking? Will Harley cover this under warranty? There is a spot on my saddle bag that is starting to spyder. The clear coat is still smooth it seems like it is under the clear. My bike is a 16 with only 1300 miles on it. I posted a pic of it.

I can't tell where that is exactly but it looks to me as it was caused from something pressing from the inside. Is that on the bag top?

I thought the same thing but I hardley ever carry a thing in my bags and definitely not full enough to push on the lid.

Agreed, that looks like a good old stress crack. If nothing pushed or hit it from under, you may have a week spot in the glass and something flexed it, Or, the vibration can cause it. If it were crows feet (Paint shrinking and cracking) you usually don't have that center circle with the linear cracks, they look a lot like the starburst on the wal mart sign and often meet at a point.

If something banged it, and had a soft surface, it may flex it enough to crack the paint without cracking the clear or chipping the clear. So something may have fallen on it if it were heavy enough. But it would have to have a soft exterior since it didn't chip it. Imagine a hard heavy cell phone with a rubber life proof case. That wouldn't be heavy enough I wouldn't think, but that is the best example of what I am talking about that I can come up with.

Either way, that sucks.

Glad they did the right thing by you. I know this is an old thread, but I have the exact same spot on the lid of my 2018 RGSand was just told that it it was not covered under warranty. On hold with the MOCO now.

Old thread, I know. But I have the same thing all over my front fender on my 2020 Ultra Limited. Warranty person took pics and sent in to HQ and they say not clear enough to see problem. Factory rep will be at my dealer tomorrow on another matter and will take a look. Definitely not stress related. Just tried to take new pics but impossible with glare of lights. Hoping rep agrees it is a warranty issue.
