Default Coating or Painting Risers

I just ordered some curved pullback risers for my 16 Fat Bob (Part Number 56267-09). They only come in Chrome, but I have heard the factory chrome job is sketchy and I want to keep the risers black so I want to get them painted or powder coated. How can I find the paint code for the black or is gloss black just gloss black?

I am looking around locally, but these are very easy to ship, any suggestions on a shop to coat or paint them for me?

Axalta (DuPont) code 99K base coat is the same as the Vivid Black.

Depends on what you are coating. Frames, forks, handle bars, swing arms etc. definitely powder coat. Paint for sheet metal, bags, fairing etc. For Risers I'd do powder coat. Honestly, I'm not sure about the process for powder coat over chrome - I'd guess the chrome would need to be removed?

Yep that is my guess. Blast it off (or chemical) and paint or coat.

I added risers to my '13 Slim, and they also only came in chrome.
Had them powdercoated gloss black.
3 years later and they still look as good as new.
Plus powdercoating is a lot cheaper and maybe more durable than paint...

Bville-Bud,
We do powder coating at our factory. Gloss black will look good. If you want send the parts and slip a $20 inside. We will coat them and ship them back. I am trying to get established on this forum so maybe I can help. Let me know. The powder is electrostatically bonded to the parts. Then it is heated to melt the powder. Works well on glossy and rough parts alike.

Good, clean chrome parts do not need to be stripped to powdercoat them.

No, but at the least scuffed up or blasted to etch. You need some sort of mechanical adhesion for the powder to adhere to. Otherwise you will deal with powder lift/flaking over time.
