Ever hear of a "VIVID BLACK PEARL"?
I just got a couple cans of spray paint from an ebay mixer that I thought was "Vivid Black" but came out all sparkly (lotsa blue metal flake). When I asked the vendor if they got the mix wrong they pointed out the ad is for "Vivid Black PEARL". Doing a Google search I can find lots of "Vivid Black" and lots of "Black Pearl" (and other "pearls"), but I've never found a "Vivid Black Pearl." Has anyone ever heard of that? If so, let me know if you can say a year and/or model. I thought he might have accidentally added "Vivid" to the "Black Pearl", but Google images of Black Pearl look more dark-gray than the black-plus-blue flake I've received. Please help. Signed, Confused.

Harley doesn't usually re-use names, but this is one exception. In 2013 they came out with second color called Vivid black (AKA Black Pearl) PPG code 934199, which has a very tiny bit of gold pearl in the clear coat. The original Vivid Black is from 1991 PPG code 9890 and is just plain black. Blue metallic doesn't sounds right for either the plain or the pearl version.
Some colors have two names like in the case of the pearl version. The official name is Vivid pearl and the unofficial name is Black pearl. It is the same for another color called Gold dust, which is the official name, but a lot of people call it Morocco Gold.
