Hi Guys,
I am replacing the front and rear fenders on my 11 FLHP. What's the best vivid black paint and clear coat to use. Is any of it more scratch/ swirl resistant than the factory PPG ? Best place to buy ?

The toughest paint is commercial grade Imron made by Axalta, only problem when you start getting into the upper end of paints your going to have $600 of paint materials painting 2 fenders, 1 qt of paint is $198-$228 plus activator $200, still needing clear.

 

If you are going to do the work yourself, I would suggest ColorRite. They make a vivid black, and sprays out nice and take your time on the cut and buff and it will be better than factory. ColorRite is base coat and clear, check out my post here. I am having great results without having to build a spray booth. I just spray in the garage. I am getting remarkedly low dirt/dust specs in, and they sand right out. about 40 bucks per (2) can set of 1 color and 1 clear. check it out on Amazon.

 

If you need to smoothly repaint surfaces while also protecting them from rust, I'd suggest Rust-Oleum is the best brand. The oil-based composition maintains its performance well, leaving the surfaces resistant to fading, heat, and other environmental factors.

 

And a good brush. Lol

 

I like PPG used it for years.

 

Can you use and epoxy primer with the Colorrite spray can products? Can’t find anywhere their paint specs and which type of primer to use. Painting a bare fender and want to make sure I use the best primer for rust protection and also paint adhesion. Thx.
