All I can find is gloss, unless you are talking about non-spraycan paint. I did find this, and may get it but its a little expensive. I'm thinking of using rustoleum low gloss black engine enamel for the color and possibly a clear if I can find a low-gloss clear. If I get this clear coat how many cans would y'all suggest to do the tank and fenders?

engine enamal will not work unless you bake it to get it to cure temp, without that it will not have any gas resistance and be a very weak finish

any hardware store will carry this... i suggest the semi gloss under it

here is 2 bikes painted with it

semi gloss black with satin clear

I even added some airbrush work under the clear.. not bad for rattle can

flat black base w/ flat clear

yes i use it all the time... here is a few step by steps from my sled hood

primer/ start after fixing some body work areas

base in semi gloss

flat clear

dry flat clear

done and on the sled

Very nice, you've got me considering semi gloss w/ flat clear now. What kind of paint (in an aerosol can) would you suggest, then? I just assumed engine enamel would be tougher and the cans I looked at didn't mention a curing process unlike some of the super high heat paints I saw so I thought it would work well. Just standard flat (or semi gloss) black spray paint?

Thanks for your advice.

Oh and I read somewhere that you need a 2 part paint with the hardener like that KK8 clear coat I found to get gas resistance. Not true?

man read above that is the paint i used... i answered your question about the gas and paint. yes a 2 part clear is going to have better gas resistance... no paint is gas proof... another option would be to send us the tins and we can powder them in flat black for you.. then you don't have to worry about it at all... DO NOT USE ENGINE ENAMEL unless you are going to bake it... you must bake an engine paint to get the gas resistance... without that it is a weak weak paint

Sorry man I read this before on my blackberry and didn't see where you said the rustoleum clear holds up decently well to gas, I gotta check some more stores for that stuff because my home depot down the road doesn't have it. Thanks.
