Default Powdercoating spoke rims?

I have a pair of 40 spoke rims that I'm looking to powdercoat the lip and the hub. I am thinkning of taking of the spokes myself. Is this job possible or should I just cover the spokes with tape and reseal. Thanks.

Default Powder coating rims

I recently did this with my 06 Dyna I changed from the stock 19" front rim to a 21" 40 spoked rim. I tore it down and powdercoated the rim, hub and spokes. Then I relaced the rim following the procedure from the tech. manual. The process wasn't that difficult but does take some patience. I put some painters masking tape around the outside of the rim to help make sure I didn't scratch the new powdercoating with the spokes. I don't have a trueing stand so after I got the rim assembled and as true as I could get it by eye, I took it to a local bike shop who trued it and mounted the new tire for me for about $30.00. I am very happy wih the results and it does give a sense of pride saying that I did most of the work.

Sorry havnt been active here. I used a flat tip screw driver and a T-handle hex wrench(don't remember the size) From inside the rim on Some stubborn ones I used a small 4" adjustable wrench. Make sure you follow the manual for the wheel and hub you have I had to start over one time as I followed the illustration For the wrong hub very frustrating at the time and it wasnt until the last few spokes that I noticed the problem.
