Some additional comments any pits or bubbles in chromed aluminum parts forget about it... You will need to have the chrome removed its failed and will lift the new finish... But if the chrome is in great shape you have a very durable finish.... Also Sand is way too abrasive to use on chrome, you only need to profile the surface not rip it too $hit... I think the preferred blast medium is Glass

NEVER USE GLASS BEADS!!!!! if anything on this you would want to use a 60-80 alum oxide typically... but no glass! it gets embedded in the metal and will create issues wiht out gassing during cure cycles. if the chrome is horrible as Harley tuner described would be the direction we would take, from there if there is pitting we typically lay a thick coat of primer, block that out, and then top coat that... would blow your mind on some of the old school vintage wheels we have been able to save
wheels like these from 70's dirt bike where just destoryed, took soome work but we got them back into great shape http://www.thepowderpro.com/gallery/...s_wheels_3.JPG we actually just boxed up and sent out a chrome FLH primary, the chrome was destroyed... we blocked it out after blasting and primer... then top coated it, even cross linking 2 coats. the finish came out great you would never know that the part was so destroyed when it came in |
