Hey guys new to HD. I ride a 2008 Eletra Glide 93cu. So I was out one day and came to a stop when I took off bike wouldn't go into 3rd gear. Pulled clutch downshifted then back up all went well. Afterward riding on highway for about 1 hr got off and stopped. Same thing but took longer to get it to up shift. Anyone come across this before? It's done it a few times now. Could it be when it's running hot?

 

Start with the basics - perform a good clutch release rod, then cable adjustment.

 

Check your linkage between the foot shifter and the transmission and make sure nothing is binding.If that checks out you may have to pull the trans apart if it's only happening in one specific gear then it is more then likely an internal problem.

 

Thanks guys I'll try and get to it this weekend. I'll try the adjustment hopefully that'll do it. Not savy enough for internal repairs. May have to go to shop if adjustment doesn't work.

 

Thanks to all for the advice & welcomes. Adjusted & lubed clutch cable. Haven't had any problems shifting. Hope that's all it was. This forum really helps. Again thanks & ride safe.
