Default Shift pedal not engaging

2013 Electra Glide Classic FLHTC This morning while on the way to work, I came to an intersection and went to downshift and the pedal seemed to stick. Took off and the shifter just kinda flopped around. Everything was still connected and tight it just seemed as though it wasn't engaging the (shift pawl??). Drove back home in second gear, could not change the gears at all. Any suggestions??

Check arm at transmission.
The splines and arm/lever at transmission must be tight.
Sometimes the allen bolt at the lever located on the splined shaft is loose or the lever itself has stripped splines.
The lever is softer than the shaft.

Thanks, I'll check it when I get home. Before I cruised at a whopping 30 mph in second gear all the way home(about 7 miles) I checked the linkage and it all appeared to be moving in the proper direction at the same time, though it may have been slipping.

EXACTLY!! Bought the lever on the way home, $42.00, and when I got home tested it thoroughly. After a few tough shifts, it began to slip. Off and on in 20 minutes....good or better than new. THANKS!!

Glad you are on the road again. Check the fastener again after a few days of riding and then at oil changes or your periodic maintenance where you check critical fasteners.

Remember to add a thread locker such as loktite to the allen/hex bolt to prevent it from getting loose.
