After accident, bike won't shift out of nuetral!
i have a 99 fxstc with a stock 5 speed trans. Las September I was involved in an accident where the bike was laced down on the left side. I finally just got the bike all back together and ready to take it for a spin last night and the bike won't shift from neutral. I think that during the crash the shift fork may have been bent? Has anyone incountered this? If indeed it is the shift fork does the trans need to come out? Can this be fixed by removing just the top and side covers. Anything else I can check? Primary chain is adjusted clutch adjusted to spec. Neutral light is on in nuetral goes out when shifted into first and it clicks just doesn't engauge. Shifts up to second but doesn't engauge. Bike runs in all three positions without clutch lever pulled in. Thanks.

Start with the linkage, I can't see how you could have done internal damage to the transmission in an accident. Check the foot control, rod going from the foot control to the shift lever on the transmission and the shift lever it self. Make sure nothing is broken, loose or binding and then report back and we'll take it from there.
