09 ultra classic...I took it to a dealer this morning and they think front wheel bearing??? I then drove over to a local bike shop that does high performance harleys etc...he thinks transmission main bearing?? Both places drove it...

I'll throw a total different answer in the mix..........inner primary bearing going south (which may be what the local bike shop was referring to as tranny main bearing). The automatic tensioner is famous for overtightening the chain which in turn takes out the inner primary bearing. 09's did have issues with wheel bearings as well. You should be able to inspect the wheel bearings visually and look for oil seepage from the seal, etc. and put the front wheel up on a lift and spin it and feel for roughness or other issues in the spin. Anyhow, my bet is on the inner primary bearing.

Yes I did find out what it was...first I replaced the front wheel bearings and both tires!! Rode home, same howl...took it back to dealer. They took the transmission apart, 3rd gear main bearing and 3rd gear were worn out!! A whole bunch of money later...my bike is awesome again!!!
