Default cluch cable

hello needing some information i have a 1972 ultra flh shovelhead needing to know if my cluch cable is too long will it affect the transmission in any way when i adjust the clutch to the harley spec slight resistance then 180 counter clock wise the adjust clutch cable till there is about the thickness of a nickel between the cluch handel and the clutch cable having an issue with shift from 2nd to 3rd when i shift from 2nd to 3rd it slips back into nutral just wondering if the cable is to long and has to be adjusted all the way out is it causing the clutch to not fully disengage harley calls for a 51" cable mine is 59" any answer would be great thank you

short answer , no.
the tranny will shift without the clutch, and stay in gear.
the clutch just allows smooth transition .
