5 gear or dd7
Hello , I'm new to the forum.. I have an 06 road glide with a SE96" .. I blew that motor to pieces a few weeks back "cam bearing" which Intail destroyed the rest of the motor ... I am now having a 120" built ... I always Found myself looking for another gear with the 96" ... My ? Is change to a 6 gear or go with a dd7 ??? Pros and cons ?? Any help would be great ... Thanks Mike

Motor size
I guess I went in a little blind on this motor build .. What would be an average cost for someone to have a 120" custom built ,installed and get my bike back ????? It started out around 10k but quickly jumped to 13-14 k and the job is not done or even started for all I know ??? Just looking for some thoughts ... Thanks

Before they start the work, ask for a detailed list of all the parts and labor required.

I've owned bikes with 3-speed, 4, 5 and 6 and looked for an extra gear on every one - it's normal and you shouldn't go buying a new trans just because of that! If you buy a 7-speed and still look for another gear what ya goin' to do?!
All our bikes come with tall gearing, even the 5-speeds, so give some careful thought to what you would like to achieve. I can see the attraction of a DD6, to give a lower first gear and slightly taller top gear, rather than the Baker approach of simply raising top. A DD7 has me scratching my head!
As for a bigger engine they are readily available in a box, at quite decent prices, it seems extravagant to have one custom built, unless you are after a real performance machine. H-D make two versions of their SE120, JIMS offers a 131", but the S&S 124" would get my money.
