Just bought a new 2015 Street Glide Special 3 days ago. While riding this weekend, when in 1st gear, the tranny whines. Sounds like a bearing going out or gear whine. Lube is full. Only does it in 1st gear and when hot. My '13 ultra classic didn't do this. Is this normal? Don't know if they had a design change since '13. Stopping at dealer this week, but like to be somewhat informed before going there.

Have been told that the newer bikes with the hyd. clutch, this whining sound is normal, thus why I never heard it on my '13. Anyone confirm/deny this?

 

No I have a slight gear whine in a 2013 softail slim. I think some transmissions have it. Nothing to worry about.

 

My 15 streetglide has done this since I picked it up with 5 miles on it.. I wouldn't be concerned.. I have not been easy on mine and it's been fine
