Default Clutch Adjustment - Torquing Needed?

I own a 2011 Electra Glide which is due for it's 5,000 clutch adjustment. In the past I've had the local HD perform this adjustment but thought maybe I'd save a little $ and do it myself. I've read the service manual regarding this adjustment but have a question. The manual indicates the clutch adjustment jam nut should be torqued to specific in-lbs. My question is - is it absolutely necessary to torque this nut (which appears to be a challenge) or can I just tighten the jam nut until it's tight against the plate (while holding the clutch adjuster screw with an allen wrench so it doesn't move)? Thanks!

Once i made the adjustment, I lock the Jam Nut Slightly, so the adjuster screw can't move. Then I hit it with the Torque wrench

Personally, I've never torqued the nut on mine and haven't had a problem. I just tighten it down.

You can buy an 11/16" socket with a nut on the end on Amazon for this purpose. Just a few bucks and saves loads of hassle.
