Can I use an impact gun to remove the nut after liberal heating for the red lock tight without damaging the trans? Lefty loosey righty tighty of course. I've broken a breaker bar and socket adapter so far.

 

A 3/4" air or electric impact usually works. A little heat to overcome the red Loctite and the penetrating oil will also help. Repeated short burst on the gun, don't just pull the trigger and sit on it.

get a sprocket locking tool,(don't use the belt and brake to hold the sprocket it will soften the impact)

 

Yeah I had to use a impact on mine and heat for about 5 min.
