Exclamation Clutch Adjustment Issue - 2007 FXD

So I burned up my clutch last week and replaced the plates yesterday (friction and drive to be safe). I serviced the primary with full synthetic 20W-50 and readjusted the clutch and cable.
When I took it for a test drive, the clutch wouldn't fully disengage. It almost does, but she stays just inside the friction zone to keep pulling in first gear instead of stalling out. I have about 1/16" of play in the cable, maybe a hair more. Does that mean that I tightened the adjustment screw inside the inspection cover too much? Or not enough? I've always done a half turn after lightly seating and never had a problem. Any suggestions?

I bring my cable to the point where there is no play but no drag also.
