stripping trans to powder coat
I want to strip down my 6-speed to powder coat.
The gear set slides out when bolts are removed from the trap door?
The main gear bearing will need to be pressed in to remove?
Shifter pawl should come out by pressing into housing?
It seems to be pretty straight forward am I missing anything?
No special tools?
thanks,
filth

I'm paying someone to strip and rebuild my tranny at present, although not to paint it! I regard that task as way outside my comfort level. Yes you will need a few special tools, to assist dismantling and rebuild. It's a lengthy process which you really should get a factory service manual to learn, which spells out everything in detail including tooling used. You may also find useful videos on-line, but the book should be your starting point.

I have a manual........thought perhaps someone with actual experience of transmission disassembly might chime in. I simply want to pull guts out, wrap in clean towel, set aside to be reassembled after coating case.
no not a show bike, just my OCD..........
I have a s&s 124 hot kit, want to build motor after powder coating cases, thought I would do tranny case as well. The matching set would be my twist.
