Default 03 Dyna trans rebuild

Am I correct in guessing that when rebuilding the 5spd trans with either Baker or Jims parts that along with the Builders kit which is all the gears, shafts etc. that runs about $2000+ that I would also need the Rebuild kit for the gaskets, bearings, seals etc.?

What exactly are you doing, rebuilding an existing 5 speed, or installing a new gearset?

Did you have some sort of failure? Five speed transmissions are generally bulletproof...

The OD6 kit will come with everything you need, all the bearings, seals and gaskets along with the assembled gearset ready to install. James (former Baker employee) and I just did mine a few weeks back, I had the case out of the bike and it took around an hour from start to finish...In my case there was nothing wrong with the 5 speed, hell it only had 8K on it, but I wanted that extra gear for my 117" softail build.

Look around for someone that has replaced the 5 speed gearset with a six speed; there are quite a few; dfwhocke17 for instance. I am sure there are some for sale on some of the various HD forums and Ebay that will save a lot of money. Just order gaskets, seals, etc. from an online discount dealer.
