The starter on my 72 shovel is broken, not engaging internally. Where do I start with the repair?

 

We have a classic shovel section, where you may get a quicker reply. It's a long time since I owned my shovel, which suffered from a slipped bushing on the kicker shaft that interfered with the starter clutch.
