Default 10k mile service made my tranny slip in 5th&6th?

WTFreak? WTF? ('11 Fatboy FLSTF w/ mechanical cable clutch and 6speed, 96B mill.) Dealer been after me for mos. to get my 10k service even tho bike felt great and was adjusted at a 7.5k mile oil change. On 1st ride yestday, bike revs out of 5th on hard accell. on hi-way as if clutch not fully connected, the guage drops from 5 to 4th, then engine slows down and it seems to go back into 5th? Did it ACTUALLY switch to 4th, or guage gets confused by the spinning engine? Happened in 6th a few times. WTF? H E L P ?!?!?!?!?!?! Bike never slipped out of gear or spun clutch in 10k miles and i am very good rider/mechnic so clutch NOT fried.

Sounds like your clutch is misadjusted

Also feels like clutch lever is "easier and lighter" and that it's releasing much sooner as pull it with fingers. Is this an adjuster on cable fix I can do, or sound like they made some spec mistake on clutch spring? I didnt think they messed with clutch internally at 20k service?

Every 5K is a full clutch adjustment, which has to be done with the bike COLD. It requires, nulling the cable, adjusting the clutch spring tension in the primary, and readjusting the cable and setting proper cable freeplay. It sounds like they either readjusted cable freeplay without spring tension, or adjusted it before it was completely cool. Either way you gotta fix it ASAP or you will fry the disks

It is a pretty simple task as long as you have some basic tools, and a way to keep the bike level, like a jack.

Not necessary for bike to be "level".

I agree if you've drained the primary, but if you are trying to keep the oil in the primary while being able to pull the derby cover, level or nearly level certainly was necessary for every service I've ever done.

Then you are "overfilled".

I guess different models may be different. My Dyna will not spill while on sidestand when filled according to the manual. Not attempting to "get you".
