squeaking noise when downshifting
I have a 94 heritage and I am getting a squeaking noise when I downshift. It happens at the beginning of the downshift when the rpm's are high. If I engage the clutch the noise stops. Also as the rpm's go down the squeak goes away. It almost sounds like a squeaky belt on a car. This is the only time I get any noise is on the downshift. Doesn't squeak when driving and going through the gears, only on the downshift. Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

RE: squeaking noise when downshifting
I think it could in fact be the belt as you have already mentioned describing the sound. If it is the original belt from 94' there could easily be some glazed edges. just rough the edgesup a little bit with sand paper and see if it helps. Thats about the cheapest fix compaired to buying a new belt. Its possibly something else but try the easiest stuff first. right?
