Default Primary Fill Level?

I’m doing my first oil change on all three holes. Question on the primary fill level. Manual says 38oz, wanted to know where do you have the level at? Just touching the clutch, level with the bottom of the derby cover? After one qt the clutch is about 2mm in fluid and 2mm before running out of the access hole.

Mine would be 1 qt too full at bottom of Derby cover. It would also flood the clutch and make a harsh first gear engagement. I personally would forget the amount. Fill it to the bottom of the clutch diaphragm spring with bile level. Then note this for next time. I made me a little-bent wire dipstick that sits on the edge of the derby opening and turns 90 degrees down since it a little hard to see down in there. Mine takes about 26 ozs. Yours will take probably 32 ozs. Not sure if they have changed it but my picture in the owners manual sucks at showing what they are talking about.

What you are showing in the pic is where mine is with 32oz. Thats why I was asking. I just read on another post it says "The fluid level should be at the bottom of the derby cover opening". Not sure about this.

Read your other post on level you made. If it's not in owner manual, they are wrong. Edit your signature to 2016 FLHXSE CVO Carbon Crystal & Phantom Flames if that is what you have.

Hard to see in with a hyd clutch but here is your answer. This would be bike straight up.

Let's make something quite clear, the level to which we should fill is as per Smitty's illustration. You may need 38 oz to do that, but may end up with a little left over. Don't pour 38 oz in without checking the level correctly.
