Default Rivera Primo 6-Speed Transmission

A couple of weeks ago I purchased a Rivera Primo 6-Speed from J&P Cycles, for my 1991 FLSTC. I had the local dealer, Antelope Valley Harley Davidson, install it.

I thought I'd share some information about Rivera transmissions as I could find next to nothing about them online.

I created a short article with a few pics. The file was too large to upload in one piece, hence the Pt1 and Pt2 attachments. They're in Word format.

In fact, I sold this bike a few months ago. The transmission remained flawless while I owned the bike. It appears RP is no long selling a 6-speed trans, either the kits, or the complete transmissions. Not sure why.

Red face

They are still advertised on-line, but may not be legal in California!

I spoke with Rivera two weeks ago, Michael Pocevicius. He said they have the complete transmissions in stock, but not the builder's kits (which I was interested in, this time around). I queried the price, never got a reply, and decided not to pursue it. The gentleman I worked with at Rivera when I purchased my 6-speed, Ben Kudon, has started his own firm: American Prime Manufacturing. Ben says when he started his new company he brought on the 6-speed gear-sets that RP had carried. He sold out of them, and is unable to re-order due to 'manufacturing problems'.

As an aside: Evidently a lot of change, certainly in management, has occurred at Rivera Primo over the past couple of years.

Unfortunately happens a lot to smaller firms.
