Default Starter Clutch replacement in Bike with Reverse Gear

Hi,

I need to replace the starter clutch in a 2009 EG, fitted with an aftermarket reverse gear. I don't want to disassemble the reverse gear to get the starter motor past the gearstick if at all possible.

You think it's possible to pull the starter from the primary case a bit then push it out and over the primary case on the left side?

I think I have room, but was wondering if anyone has had to do this before.

Thanks

Have never worked on a bike with an aftermarket reverse gear ... That being said, the starter motor can only come out from the right side of bike, not up and over the primary side... In my opinion , you will have to disassemble the reverse gear you are asking about..After removing the 2 x mounting bolts and wiggling out the starter motor, be careful you dont loose the 2 x dowels behind the mounting bolts..

Thanks Mark. I will try and get away with removing the gear shift stick, and not the whole unit.

Thanks again for the reply

Update: Once I took the bolts holding the starter to the primary, I was able to get it out over the primary case on the right hand side. Saved a mountain of work...

You are confusing me a bit ,,, above you say "right hand side" ,,, (which is the side the starter motor would normally be removed)...
Did you mean to say, you removed the starter motor up and over the primary, (left), side ??
Good luck if you did, I thought there would'nt be enough room to get it out the left side, ( ie up and over the primary side).. Cheers ,,,
