Default 'N' light on in 1st and 2nd, off in neutral

I'm working on an EVO softail that has N light on in 1st and 2nd and off in neutral. When the switch is tested, it has continuity between the poles when the button is pressed. Did HD make another switch that works the opposite of this? That seems to be the issue that it is doing the opposite of what it should be doing.

What year bike is this? Yes Harley made both a normally open and normally closed switch.
You have the wrong polarity switch.

Mark, that's part of the problem, we don't know what year it is, does not have a VIN on frame. It is a project that a customer bought and brought in that has been altered a lot and we are getting it running and road worthy. It has the black bodied switch which as far as I can tell is for 00 & up, although the silver bodied switch seemed to have a very limited application. Thanks for your help.

If the black bodied switch is working backwards then you will need the silver. Yes the silver switch, double pole, was only used in 1998-1999. It is a normally closed switch.

Thanks Mark, we decided to order that switch and try it, you have confirmed for me that it should work correctly, I'll let you know how it works out.

Hi Mark, thanks for your input, that silver bodied switch worked perfectly, looks like someone in the past put the wrong switch in. Thanks again for your help.
