Default Primary chain measurement...

I looked in two of my three shop manuals to try and find a primary chain measurement for max stretch, but there isn't one.

Do you just swap out the chain once the tensioner is no longer able to be adjusted for the proper tension on the chain?

I have some slop in my drive train. Checking the final belt tomorrow along with changing out my clutch plates and checking the auto tensioner. If that is all good then the next step is the chain.

Transmission, comp, and primary chain all have 23k miles on them. The rest of the drivetrain is at 64k. I ride loaded down a decent amount and am a throttle jockey with lots of engine braking and hard downshifts. Last chain made it to 41k and was only changed out due to compensator fragments being in it.

If you've run out of adjustment on your primary adjuster then that certainly suggests to me that it is worth changing! Also check the condition of the teeth on the compensator, as when I rebuilt my bike after 40+ miles they were sharp. That indicates wear of the teeth, which can contribute to chain wear, although I would hope a new comp can last longer than 23k miles!

Comp teeth were good, tensioner was around half way extended and worn a decent amount. Figured since I was in there and had the parts I would swap it out. Forgot to get a picture and will next time I'm at my trailer.

SE clutch is what should have come from the factory though! Have to adjust how I ride a bit now. This thing GRABS.
