Ultima belt drive

Ultima belt drive
This has been in service for 4 1/2 years aprox. Hasn't been much trouble. Clutch shaft seal has leaked for half that maybe. Started sticking, pulling when clutch was disengaged, so I opened up to clean and adjust. This is what I found. Didn't expect to see the clutch plates notching the basket like this!
I'd love to say it's because I have a powerful motor, but it's just a stage 1 tc96.

That's how it is with Aluminum clutch baskets...That one still looks like you can get some miles out of it yet. It'll get noisier the longer you run it... Baker makes a steel one that won't do that but the price is gonna be up there... And no matter what anyone says, they all make noise...

I was suprised given the small tolerance between the basket and the plate tab, that it could do this amount of damage.
Overall the belt drive and ultima 6 speed have proven to be a good value for those of us on a budget. The trany doesn't shift as smooth as the harley tranys I've had. But at $600 I'll live with a stiff clunky shift!
If and when I have to buy a new basket, what I've spent is a third or half of the cost of someone else's product.
