Default Pulley fittiment question

Can anyone tell me what pulleys will work on my 2016 SG? I want to lower the gear ratio to a 30/68 or 30/70. Ive looked at some aftermarket stuff and think i could get stock take offs for cheaper. Are the off set and bolt pattern pretty common or are there only certain bikes that will fit mine. Also any help with a place that may have decent deals would be helpful. Thanks in advance for your help!!

I believe your stock rear pulley is already a 68t, so you should be able to make a 2 tooth jump and keep your stock belt length/adjust the rear wheel back to accommodate.

Baker makes a 30 and 31 tooth trans pulley for your bike.

Maybe Mark from Baker will chime in and tell you for sure.

Yea we have both the 30 and 31. Not sure but the rear pulley on the 16's may still be the cush drive. Where the pulley is cast into the wheel. I'll look it up.

Belt fitment rule of thumb is this: drop one tooth and keep the same belt. Drop two teeth and you will have to drop one tooth on the belt.

Yes i do have the 68 tooth rear on my bike now acording to the manual. I dont think the resr pulley is part of the wheel because i had them change the wheels when i bought the bike and i dont believe there was a pulley on the stock take off. Cant remember for sure and im not home to look at it now. Thanks for your help. Sure is appreciated. Im doing to 110" kit this winter and want to get the most i can out of it. I dont need to go over 100 mph very often but i do like to be the first on there!!

I recently fitted a 30T Baker and can confirm that I needed a shorter belt. Some members claimed to be able to use the stock belt, but that isn't my experience.

Did you only change the transmission pulley? Maybe im wrong in my thinking but cant i add teeth to the rear to offset taking them off the trans? Like go with a 30/70 set up? And i havent ever priced belts are they that expensive that people are worried about changing them or is it more that they are harder to get than a stock belt?

For Dyna's you can change 2 teeth count and have enough adjustment to keep stock belt.

When I did my 30t I slid my wheel back and then when I added the 70t I had to bring it more forward. Still running stock belt, but baggers might be different.

I have an earlier bike than yours and also a custom build, so am able to use a stock Sportster belt, to get a shorter one of the right size.

Unfortunately there are very few options where pulleys are concerned. I don't know of a 70T for your model year, except the one on the trikes, but they use a wider belt, which isn't much help!
