My shifter fell out?

My shifter fell out?
I was riding down the road when my shifter fell to the floorboard of my 1998 Electra Glide Classic. I was not able to up or down shift. When I hit the kill switch and pulled over, I noticed the entire assembly fell out of the hole that connects to the transmission shift lever up front. I slid it back in and re tightened the allen bolt, and everything felt great for the next two shifts. Then it fell out again. It seems no matter how tight I get the allen bolt, the shaft that holds the shifter keeps falling out after 2 shifts. I have no idea what to do here, and I am no where close to a dealer. The splines do not appear to be damaged on the shaft or the shifting arm, but something definitely is messing up. I put an unholy amount of blue locktite on the allen bolt and even the shaft this morning, and that allowed it to hold for about 6 shifts before the problem returned. Could the allen bolt just need replacing, or am I looking at a HUGE repair cost here? I will try and post pics tomorrow. Any ideas on what this issue could be?
