Whirl noise
I have a 2008 RD King. <50k. Hearing a "whirl" noise at 50+ mph, especially on sweeping curves. Still hear noise even when clutch is pulled in. Not sure what it could be: bearings, tires, transmission. Started hearing noise spring of 2016. Have fairly new Metzlers. Any ideas from experience?

It's more than likely the grooves in the tires shoulders meeting the pavement as you're going around the curves.

How tight is your primary chain?
I've read that those automatic ratcheting ones tend to over tighten.

I would also suggest your tires. Could be the tread pattern making the noise or your tires could be cupped.
