Problems with clutch adjustment

I've read through the posts on here about on the proper way to adjust the clutch. My issue is, no matter how far i turn the adjuster screw back (counter clock in the primary) my release is still way out from the handlebar. I started with backing off a 1/4 turn all the way to a little over one full turn and still with the same results!! Every time i adjusted i did it with it cold and adjusted the cable to have just a little play.
Any ideas??

Sorry, failed to mention that i just recently replaced the inner clutch hub due to the splines being stripped off.

I guessing you don't like where it releases but it is actually a good thing that means you are getting good travel and good plate separation.
that being said if you want to have it release closer to the bar back it off more.

Thanks! I didn't know exactly how far was allowable to back it out

The farther out it releases the more clutch disengagement you are getting. This promotes smoother shifting and better ability to find neutral.

Shortening the travel (having it engage and disengage closer to the handle bar) will do just the opposite.
