Clutch slipping

2014 FXDL My clutch has been slipping if I slam the throttle I adjusted my clutch to spec in the primary and when I went to set my cable it backed completely off before it was set. I changed my primary fluid bout 1000 miles ago and opened it up to do a chain conversion yesterday and it smelled pretty burnt. how I could fix this?

You need to operate, doc!
Which oil were you using? Some oils have friction modifiers that cause clutch plates to slip.

Just the Harley brand, I'm going back in tomorrow and putting redline in it. I'm gonna replace my clutch disks with the Barnett extra plate disks. But it was odd when I went to adjust my screw in the primary I had to break it loose it wasn't just a weak turn like it should be. Do I need to break into the tranny case and adjust something there?

Not as long as the balls are seated in their respective grooves.

You did not find the no clearance before you did the backoff. Go back in the primary and screw the screw in a few turn even after you fill it bottom. Now hit the lever till you get the fill where no clearance is. It is possible, you broke something slamming the throttle.

Study a few youtube videos on clutch adjustment. Most people fail to find no clearance properly before the backoff. And they also back off the cable too far before they start letting the balls get in the wrong place on the ramps. However, they cannot fall out unless it's broken.
