Default Shift shaft seal leaking again!

Replaced the seal with other oil related items 14k miles ago. Used Harley parts just to make sure I was not compromising. Well the shift shaft seal just started leaking.

Is there a better aftermarket seal? Double lip? I just want this to "Not" be a yearly maintenance task. I'll look at my notes about fluid used after the first seal change. I have RedLine in it now but I think I was using Royal Purple for a short time after the change.

Yes a 2003 Electra Glide. I just installed a James double lip seal so I should have it back together in a few hours. The design seems to have the metal outer case taller so it pushes the rubber contacts back in the bore. Also this keeps the shaft from moving in and out which might be the reason the old seal broke down. I see a small step on the shaft diameter and it might have been messing up the rubber. I did check the depth of the seal I previously installed and it could have been deeper into the bore so maybe it was my fault. Oh well **** happens.

If it was my bike, I would probably just let it leak.

The James brand sealed the deal.
