Default Clutch Lever Replacement

I changed my grips, control levers and mirrors on my '01 Road King over the weekend. The only thing I did was loosen the jam nut and loosened the long 1/2" cable nut in order c change the lever. I have never done this before so I want to make sure I have it adjusted properly. My question is do I need to remove the derby cover and adjust the clutch itself? Or do I just tighten the cable back so that when I pull back on the lever that it holds and releases when I put it in gear? Any advice so I don't have to take it to the dealer would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

In most cases just adjust cable correctly you should be ok if clutch was good before you changed it.
Adjusting the clutch on a 01 is really simple and something you should do your self . You can change engagement point to your liking . By how much you back it off between 1/2 and 3/4 turn. The cable is not a clutch adjustment it is a cable adjustment and free play.
1/2 turn clutch engages farther from the grip, 3/4 it engages closer to the grip anywhere in between fine tunes it.

No you are fine. Put it together and ride it. If you don't like the way it feels then go adjust the basket and lever again.

I changed bars, grips, levers, and new clutch cable and did not open the primary. Mine is fine. yours should be too
