No longer hard to find neutral
2010 ultra, always been a bear to get into neutral when hot. blipping throttle helped but was an annoying pain. Shifting also had been rather loud.
Just changed all fluids and while at it took primary case off to check condition and tension on chain.
Chain was not overly tight and slack in chain was a perfect 5/8" (harley tensioner)
buttoned it up and refilled to only the bottom of clutch pack ring as shown.
Only took 38oz , not the 45 recommended with case removal.
Shifting is much smoother and neutral very easy to locate.
Used amsoil primary last 2 changes so type of fluid wasnt the difference. i believe it was fluid level.

? Took the entire left side primary chain case off. Not just derby cover.
that is what they were referring to when they say to add 45oz as opposed to 38 for regular fluid change.
unless I’m missing something. Regardless 38oz brought to even with the ring.

I used amsoil “primary fluid” it’s use specific. Not sure of the weight. But it works for me. Many others work fine too.

Sorry Dude- i dont want to seem like a dick- but the "derby cover" is bolted to the "primary cover" which is the part you removed. To remove the "primary chaincase"- you have to remove the "primary cover"-" compensator assy-clutch assy- primary chain- primary chain adjuster-........ then the inner primary.
Thats what the chaincase is.
Now you can see why there would be a difference in fluid volumes to add if you removed and cleaned these parts.
